Dr. Lei Zhou has a doctoral degree in anthropology from Yunnan University. He is a Chevening Scholar at the London School of Economics and has studied at the Hopkins-Nanjing Centre. Prior to his academic research, he has worked full time as environmental journalist for Xinhua News Agency for over five years. After his post-doc at Nanjing University, he founded Oriental Danology Institute, an independent think tank based in Shanghai, focusing on media politics and environmental issues, especially on the negative ecological impacts wreaked by Chinese outbound investment in Brazil, Myanmar, Nepal, India, Thailand, South Africa.
